With over 9000 students enrolled in courses offered by the Faculty in the late 1990s, the Faculty of Engineering at RMIT University was the largest engineering faculty in Australia. Engineering has been taught since the opening of the Working Men's College, RMIT University's predecessor, in 1887.

The faculty no longer exists and has been integrated into the Science, Engineering and Technology Portfolio.
