| The Agricultural Society of New South Wales was established in 1822. The Society aimed to further the quality of Australia's primary production, staging their first show in Paramatta in 1823. Hawkesbury Agricultural College was established as a result of the Society's movements towards establishing agricultural colleges and experimental farms. In 1891 the Society gained permission to use the prefix 'Royal' and became known as the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales. |
