The Australian Institute of Physics was established in 1963, when it replaced the Australian Branch of the Institute of Physics. The purpose of the Institute is to further promote the development and application of the science of physics. From their Web site, December 2001, "The Australian Institute of Physics exists to promote all aspects of physics to the wider community as well as providing support to physicists."
