Online Sources
Function: Exports or Imports and Food or Beverage Industry

Formed in Melbourne in April 1880, the Australian Frozen Meat Export Company was established to export frozen meat to England. The first shipment departed in November 1880 and arrived safely in England in January 1881. Competition arose from other places exporting frozen meat to England, including New Zealand and South America. The Company failed in 1886.
