Established in 1988, the Division of Water Resources included the former Division of Water and Land Resources and the Centre for Irrigation and Freshwater Research. The Division was later joined by Water Resources Management. In 1997, the Division, along with the Divisions of Soils and Environmental Mechanics, became the Division of Land and Water.
