| The Proprietary Medicines Advisory Committee was established in 1953, when the Victorian Government passed the Health (Proprietary Medicines) Act, No. 5731. The Committee replaced another, with similar functions, that was created as a result of legislation passed in 1942, the Health (Patent Medicines) Act, No. 4934. 1991 saw the functions of the Proprietary Medicines Advisory Committee being transferred from State to Federal Government, where the Committee became part of the Therapeutic Goods Administration. |
