| Civil and Civic was founded in 1951 as a joint construction venture for the Snowy River scheme in Cooma. Since then it has gone on to build several major Australian buildings, including Australia's first 'skyscraper', Caltex House, in Sydney (1957). In 1961 Civil & Civic was acquired by Lend Lease, but the company continued to trade under the Civil and Civic name for some time. Civil and Civic opened in its first branch in Perth a year later and also began work on the construction of Australia Square in Sydney. Lend Lease is now owned by Bovis and known as Bovis Lend Lease. |
