In 1989 the Australian Telecommunication Commission altered its name to become the Australian Telecommunications Corporation. The Corporation continued to trade under the name of Telecom Australia. In 1992 the Corporation was merged with the Overseas Telecommunications Commission to form the Australian and Overseas Telecommunications Authority.
