Williamstown Dockyard (1854 - 1922)

Online Sources
Function: Manufacturing Industry and Maratime Industry
Location: Williamstown, Victoria, Australia
Williamstown Dockyard was one of Australia's principle ship building yards. The dockyards opened in 1856, but possibly only for ship docking and repairs. Some sources indicate that ship building did not commence there until 1913. The first warship (the Deakin) built there was completed in 1920. In 1922 the dockyard was apparently renamed the Williamstown Naval Dockyard.
