The Southern Hemisphere Analysis Centre replaced the Central Analysis Office during the mid 1960s. In about 1966 the Centre also took control of the operational analysis functions of the International Antarctic Analysis Centre. The Southern Hemisphere Analysis Centre later became the National Meteorological Analysis Centre.
