| The Department of Science was formed in December 1972. The Department took control of the meteorological functions of the former Department of the Interior, the scientific research functions of the former Department of Education and Science as well as various functions from other former Departments. The Hon. William Lawrence Morrison was the Minister of the Department of Science for the whole of its existence. |
