| The Department of Home and Territories was established in November 1916. As well as being responsible for fisheries regulation, meteorology, space science and survey and mapping, the Department was in charge of citizenship, migration and passports. Almost all of the functions of the Department of Home and Territories were passed on to the Department of Home Affairs, which took its place in December 1928. |
