| The Department of the Arts, Sport, the Environment, Tourism and Territories was established in July 1987, accepting functions from the former Departments of Sport, Recreation and Tourism, Arts, Heritage and the Environment, Education, Territories and the Department of Science. The control of the Bureau of Meteorology was transferred from the Department of Administrative Services in June 1990. In December 1991 the Department was abolished and its functions were passed on to the Department of the Arts, Sport, the Environment and Territories and the Department of Tourism. |
