The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia Inc. took the place of the Chamber of Mines of Western Australia in the 1960s. From their Web site, December 2001: "The Chamber of Minerals and Energy represents the collective interests of companies involved in the minerals and energy industry in Western Australia. Members of the Chamber undertake 90% of minerals exploration and production in the State. Working together through the Chamber on matters of common interest, these companies are able to ensure that the operating environment is conducive to industry profitability and investment both now and in the future."
