| After the Department of Home Affairs and Environment was abolished in December 1984, the Department of Arts, Heritage and Environment was established. The Department was responsible for the Australian National Parks and Wildlife Service, amongst other things. In July 1987 most of the functions of the Department were taken over by the Department of the Arts, Sport, the Environment, Tourism and Territories. |
