Established in July 1993, the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Intelligent Manufacturing Systems and Technologies carries out research into areas such as manufacturing information systems, concurrent engineering, sensor fusion and signal processing. In 1999 this CRC received a new seven year grant to continue its research and "for the development and application of intelligent manufacturing systems and supporting technologies for the economic benefit of Australian industry and society."
