The Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Advanced Computational Systems was established in October 1993. The CRC undertook research into advanced server technologies, data mining, digital media libraries and virtual environments. In 2000 the CRC ceased to exist. From their Web site, May 2002: "ACSys provided for corporate and SME end-users through commercially focused R&D on interactive user interfaces, high performance computation, large-scale data management, digital media, internet applications, and broadband networks.
