The Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Diagnostic Technologies was established in July 1995. The CRC carried out research in areas such as antibody engineering, antibody/antigen detection, protein engineering, rapid diagnostics, genetic disease diagnostics and nucleic acid amplification. In July 2001 the CRC was replaced by the CRC for Diagnostics.
