In 2000 the CRC for Legumes in Mediterranean Agriculture ceased to be funded by the Australian Government's Cooperative Research Centres Program. The Centre's associates agreed to continue the Centre independently of the CRC Program, renaming it the Centre for Legumes in Mediterranean Agriculture. From their Web site, May 2002: "CLIMA is the Centre for Legumes in Mediterranean Agriculture. It pools the talent and resources of Agriculture Western Australia, The University of Western Australia, CSIRO and Murdoch University to study legumes for sustainable agriculture in the mediterranean climate of southern Australia."
