Function: Veterinary or Animal Health Industries
Location: Healsville, Victoria, Australia
Healsville Sanctuary can trace its history back to 1934. The Sanctuary came under the management of the Zoological Board of Victoria (later the Zoological Parks and Gardens Board) in 1978. In 2002 the Sanctuary is home to more than 200 species of Australian native fauna. In 2006 the new Australian Wildlife Health Centre was opened and visitors can watch the centre’s staff at work as they treat and care for the animals. This centre continues the sanctuary's long term commitment to the rescue, long-term care and protection of Australian wildlife.
