Queensland Acclimatisation Society (1862 - 1940s)

The Queensland Acclimatisation Society was founded in 1862. The Society worked on the introduction and acclimatisation of animals, birds, fish, insects and plants. The Society ceased operations voluntarily, when it was decided that the CSIRO Queensland Department of Agriculture and Stock were better equipped for the tasks undertaken by the Society.
