The University of Ballarat is a regional institution with five campuses within the Central Highlands and Wimmera regions. The largest campus, at Mt Helen in Ballarat, is located just over one hour's drive from Melbourne.
The School of Science has active teaching and research programs in Environmental Management, Food Science and Technology, and Exploration and Environmental Geology. In particular, higher degree by research programs are offered at Masters and Doctoral level and many involve links with industry, government and business environments.
