Victoria University has significant expertise in researching issues of importance and working with a range of government, semi-government, industry and community groups across several key areas.

These include: managing social diversity for the wellbeing of the community; health and the environment; physical activity; rehabilitation and health; tourism and services management. In addition the University supports a number of designated Research Centres that undertake focussed research activities and have achieved significant external support from industry and Government.

In the area of physical activity, rehabilitation and health, the mission of the Centre for Rehabilitation, Exercise and Sport Science - CRESS is to contribute to the long term health and well-being of the Australian community through teaching, research and consultancy. The emphasis is on physical activity as a modality for the promotion of health, well-being and personal excellence. CRESS also promotes individual development through physical activity, including elite performance.
