What is Australian Science at Work?

Australian Science at Work is an authoritative World Wide Web resource focused on the many industries, corporations, research institutions, scientific societies and other organisations that have contributed to Australia's scientific, technological and medical heritage. The resource was established in 1999. Each Authority Record details the history of the entity, defining the entity by a short summary note, a more detailed chronological account of the history of the entity, including information about and links to predecessor and successor entities. The Authority Records contain links to both primary and secondary source material, and may also contain links to online exhibitions and histories.

Australian Science at Work and Bright Sparcs are the major outreach and communication tools of the Australian Science and Technology Heritage Centre at the University of Melbourne. The sites, based on international standards for heritage information management, are the benchmark for world’s best practice in this area. Australian Science at Work and Bright Sparcs are two of the major resources on the World Wide Web for information about the history of science, technology and medicine in Australia and are actively used by teachers and students not only in Australia but overseas as well.
