About the AWAP

The Australian Women's Archives Project (AWAP) is an initiative of the National Foundation for Women (NFAW) which seeks to remedy the gap in library and information scholarly infrastructure concerning the history of Australian women and related studies, specifically to assist and increase the preservation of Australian women's records in existing Australian archives and libraries. One outcome from this project has been a significant increase and improvement in the number of archival holdings relating to women listed in the AWAP Register.

Project Aims

The aim of this Australian Research Council funded development of the project was to list the institutions and organisations Australian women were associated with, and register information about the archives and records of these women and organisations. Locating information about archival resources in private hands has been a priority area.
