Professor William J. (Bill) Halliday was appointed an Honorary Life Member of the Australasian Society for Immunology Incorporated in c.1992, due to his significant contributions to the field. The proposal to make Professor Halliday an Honorary Life Member is included in this collection (reference below).

Completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Melbourne from 1945 to 1948, Professor Halliday went on to postgraduate work at the University of Wisconsin, California Institute of Technology, and University of Washington. From 1968, he was a Reader in Immunology at the Department of Microbiology, University of Queensland.

Professor Halliday received several awards and distinctions for his work in the field of immunology, and has a long list of publications and citations to his name. For further information, see Professor Halliday's curriculum vitae from the 1980s, included in this collection (reference below).
