The Works Manager was the senior management position at the Pigments Plant at Laverton, overseeing all departments and reporting to Imperial Chemical Industries of Australia and New Zealand Limited.

Some papers from the early 1960s also refer to this position as the Plant Superintendent, though this title does not appear on any formal organisational charts included in the collection.

The last Works Manager of the Pigments Plant at Laverton run by ICIANZ, Hugh A. Grayson, became the first General Manager of Pigment Manufacturers of Australia Limited when the company was formed in 1970. A number of his records are included in this collection.
