Gold (continued)

Fuel needs made heavy demands on the timber from sparsely wooded plains to feed the boiler power plants and the roasting furnaces. One unusual feature was the wood-fired gas producer power plants at the Sons of Gwalia and Youanmi mines, and in view of the recent developments in the CIP process it is interesting that charcoal precipitation was practised at Youanmi as early as 1916, the charcoal being obtained from the gas producers.
