Dawn Gleeson is the Director of First Year Studies in Biology (The Biology Laboratory), Senior Lecturer in Genetics, and Co-ordinator of Genetics Education and Community Relations.

The Director of First Year Studies in Biology is appointed to oversee the operation of the Biology Laboratory for Botany, Genetics and Zoology. As Co-ordinator of Genetics Education and Community Relations, Gleeson oversees programs for teachers and students, and genetics multimedia. Activities include in-service training programs for Biology teachers, lectures to school students, running practical programs for gifted children and the development of curriculum materials for the teaching of genetics. Many members of the Department belong to organisations which raise the awareness of the general public to
current trends in genetics.
