Educated University of Melbourne BA 1933 DSc (Hon) 1991; Trinity College Cambridge PhD 1938 ScD 1978. Lecturer in Mathematics Queen Mary College, University of London1938-1939; Lecturer in Mathematics University of Durham 1939-1940.
University of Melbourne: Lecturer in mathematics 1940-1951, and Professor Lecturer in Mathematics,1952-1977 . Chairman of Mathematics Standing Committee of the Schools Board. Dean of the Faculty of Arts, 1960 - 1962. Head of the Department of Mathematics 1963 - 1977.
