The published literature examining the participation and roles played by women in Australian science, technology and medicine is substantive, dynamic and continually growing.

The Bright Sparcs bibliography of the history of Australian science and technology links published literature with the relevant biographical entries. Citations for this bibliography have been assembled from the work of many scholars but a singular source that resulted in the doubling of the number of entries relating to women in Australian science was Jane Carey's PhD Thesis 'Departing from their sphere: Australian women and science, 1880-1960', 2003.
