Website Launch, 22 August 2003

The launch of the Where are the Women in Australian Science project was held on 22 August 2003 in Room 209, Old Arts Building, The University of Melbourne, as part of National Science Week 2003.

The launch was an intimate occasion held in the new library and research room of the Australian Science and Technology Heritage Centre. The launch was also used to welcome Austehc onto the main campus of the University and back into close proximity with the Department of History and Philosophy of Science.

Welcomes and introductions were provided by Gavan McCarthy, Austehc, and Patricia ni Ivor, representing the National Foundation for Australian Women. Professor Nancy Millis AC spoke trenchantly and entertainingly on the experience of women in science in Australia.

In anticipation of the launch, Catherine Sangster prepared a press release which was published in UniNews (The University of Melbourne), Wednesday 9 July 2003.
