Ducker, Sophie Charlotte (1909 - )

Born: 9 April 1909  Germany

Ducker joined the staff of the Botany Department, University of Melbourne as a Technical Assistant in 1945, retiring as a senior lecturer in Botany in 1974. She is particularly interested in phycology - the study of seaweed.


Career Highlights

Born Dresden, Germany, 9 April 1909. Educated University of Melbourne (BSc 1952, DSc 1978, LLD (Hon) 1993. Research assistant, University of Melbourne 1945-57, lecturer in botany 1957-61, senior lecturer 1961-74, senior research associate since 1974. ANZAAS Mueller Medal 1996. Has an annual postgraduate scholarship endowed in her name.
