17-1 Personal correspondence between Linda Burnet and her family - Part 1

Letters numbered 1-22. Personal correspondence between Linda Burnet and her family at 6 St. John's Parade Kew, Melbourne. 30th December 1931 - 24th October 1933. Letters written at approximately weekly intervals detailing day to day life of the Burnet family in Britain. Letters include those written on board the P & O ship SS Cathay bound for London, stopping at Adelaide and Freemantle etc. Mention of the proposed sale of furniture in their former Kew house, the death of relations and the Knighthood of Mac's chief Henry Dale. Details of day to day life on board the ship, social interaction, activities of the children, how they are making friends on board etc. Their arrival in Hamstead U.K. establishing a new house, finding a maid, passing references to Mac and his work. Description of the search for a house, looking at Hampstead garden 'suburb', social engagements, the weather, notes from their holidays including Surrey.

Letters numbered 22-34. Mention of Mac working at the 'lab' on Sunday's, and giving a short paper at Oxford which received compliments from Prof. Topley from London. Notes of various illnesses affecting herself, Mac and the children, mostly the 'flu' and of her father's health. Notes on receiving Australian visitors.
