Tattam was Professor of Geology and Minerology at the University of Melbourne 1965 - 1968. He obtained the Degree of Bachelor of Science with honours at the University of Melbourne in 1924, and later became a member of the staff of the Department of Geolgy and Minerology in 1945.

Degree of Doctor of Philosophy and the Diploma of the Imperial College, Imperial College of Science and Technology, London

1928 - 1944

Geologist with the Geological Survey of Nigeria. During this time he was awarded a Commonwealth Fund Scholarship, enabling him to obtain a Doctorate of Science from the Colorado (USA) School of Mines
